Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about PureTempMail

Getting Started

How long does my temporary email last?
Each mailbox lasts 1 hour by default. Unlike traditional 10-minute email services that impose a rigid countdown, PureTempMail gives you a full hour with on-demand extensions up to 24 hours from creation. The countdown timer shows your remaining time. When the timer reaches zero, the mailbox and all its messages are permanently deleted. This longer window accommodates slow verification emails, multi-step onboarding flows, and mobile usage patterns that a strict 10-minute window often breaks.
Do I need to create an account?
No. No account, registration, or personal information is required. A new email address is generated automatically when you visit the page.
How do I get a temporary email address?
Open PureTempMail in your browser — a unique email address is generated instantly. No sign-up, registration, or personal information is required. Your address is ready to use immediately.
Can I choose my email address?
No. Addresses are randomly generated for maximum privacy. A unique address is assigned automatically every time you visit PureTempMail. Random generation ensures no one can guess or target your temporary mailbox.
Can I use PureTempMail on my phone?
Yes. PureTempMail works on any device with a modern web browser — smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. The interface adapts to your screen size automatically.
Is PureTempMail available in my language?
Yes. PureTempMail supports 13 languages: English, Russian, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Chinese, Ukrainian, Portuguese, and Turkish. The interface automatically detects your browser language, or you can select one manually.
What is a burner email?
A burner email is another name for a disposable or temporary email address. Like a prepaid burner phone, a burner email is used once or for a short period and then discarded. It protects your real email address from spam, data breaches, and unwanted marketing. PureTempMail generates a free burner email instantly — no registration, no personal information required.

Safety & Privacy

Is temporary email safe?
Yes. PureTempMail is safe to use as a burner email or disposable address. Here is what makes it safe: no account or personal information is required; emails are stored only for the mailbox lifetime and permanently deleted on expiry; your mailbox ID exists only in your browser's local storage with no server-side identity link; data minimization is built into the architecture. The service uses analytics and displays ads to remain free — details are in our Privacy Policy. However, do not use temporary email for sensitive communications like password resets or financial transactions.
Is it illegal to use temporary email?
No. Using a temporary email or burner email is legal in all major jurisdictions. Disposable email addresses are a legitimate privacy tool, just like using a P.O. box instead of your home address. However, using any email service (temporary or permanent) for fraud, harassment, or other illegal activities is against the law.
Can you trace a temporary email address?
No. PureTempMail does not link email addresses to user identities. There is no account, no login, and no personal data collection. The mailbox identifier is stored only in your browser's local storage. Once the mailbox expires, all data is permanently deleted from our servers.
How private is a temporary email?
Very private. PureTempMail requires no personal information, creates no user accounts, and stores no data beyond the mailbox lifetime. Your mailbox ID exists only in your browser's local storage. We cannot connect any mailbox to your identity. All emails and attachments are permanently deleted on expiry.

Features & Limitations

Can I send emails from PureTempMail?
No. PureTempMail is receive-only and cannot send outgoing emails. This is by design to prevent abuse and keep the service focused on privacy protection.
Can I receive attachments?
Yes. All file types are supported as attachments. You can view and download them directly from the message view.
Can I use a temporary email for sign-up verification?
Yes. Temporary email works well for one-time sign-ups, free trials, loyalty programs, and services where you do not want to share your real email address. Check your temporary inbox for the verification link or code before the mailbox expires.
What happens to my emails when the mailbox expires?
Everything is permanently deleted. The mailbox, all received messages, and any file attachments are removed from our servers with no possibility of recovery. This automatic cleanup is a core privacy feature: once the countdown timer reaches zero, there is no trace of your temporary email activity.
What file types can I receive as attachments?
All file types are supported. PDFs, images, spreadsheets, ZIP archives, and any other format can be viewed and downloaded directly from the message view. Attachments are stored securely and deleted along with the mailbox when it expires.
Can I reply from a temporary email?
No. PureTempMail is inbound-only — it can receive emails but cannot send replies or new messages. This limitation is intentional to prevent spam and abuse originating from disposable addresses.

Troubleshooting

How does a disposable email protect me from spam?
It keeps your real email off marketing lists. When you use a disposable address instead of your real email at sign-ups, your real inbox never appears on marketing lists or data broker databases. If the service gets hacked or sells its user list, only the temporary address is exposed — and it will already have self-destructed.
Why was my verification email not delivered?
The sender likely blocks disposable email addresses. Some websites actively filter temporary domains to prevent abuse. Try using a different domain if multiple are available, or check that you copied the address correctly — a single typo will prevent delivery.
How is PureTempMail different from other temp email services?
PureTempMail delivers emails in real time using Server-Sent Events (SSE), so messages appear instantly without refreshing. It renders full HTML emails with styling intact, supports all file attachment types, and requires no account or registration. All data is permanently deleted when your mailbox expires.
Is temporary email safe for Amazon or eBay?
Not recommended. Amazon, eBay, and similar platforms may block disposable email domains or flag accounts created with them. For accounts tied to purchases or financial transactions, use your real email address. Temporary email is best for one-time sign-ups, free trials, and services where you do not need long-term account access.
Does temporary email work for Netflix?
Unlikely. Netflix and most major streaming services block known disposable email domains during sign-up. These platforms require a permanent email for account recovery and billing. Use temporary email for services that do not require long-term account management.
What happens when temporary email expires?
The mailbox and all its contents are permanently destroyed. All received messages, file attachments, and metadata are deleted from our servers with no possibility of recovery. The email address stops accepting new messages and becomes invalid.
Why doesn't my temporary email receive messages?
Three common causes: the sender blocks disposable email domains, you copied the address incorrectly, or your mailbox has expired. Check the countdown timer to confirm your mailbox is still active. Try a different domain if available. Some services like banks and government portals always reject temporary addresses.
